Canon Speedlite Intensive

Prerequisites:  

A desire or need to learn the Canon Speedlite flash/flash system.  You should be familiar with the basics of your camera and your computer operating system.

Join the growing movement of photographers creating incredible images and art using their Canon Speedlite Flash. Whether one strobe or a dozen, the system is easy to learn and master when you know the basics.

This 2-day intensive will introduce you to all aspects of Speedlite photography.  Hal will lead you through the theory, switchology, and workflow of  the Canon Speedlite system. After discussion and demonstration, be prepared to launch into the deep end yourself when you practice and master what you learned. 

We will shoot with models, product, wildlife, and nature with our Canons and Speedlites around the beautiful central coast of California.

        -Exposure

        -How to look beyond ETTL
        -Light characteristics

Basic Functions and Switchology
        -Modes – ETTL, Manual, and Multi
        -Synchronization – 1st and 2nd curtain and High Speed
        -Flash Zoom
        -Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC)

Multiple Flash Setup and Operation
        -Integrating Speedlite Master and Slaves
        -Ratio use
        -Wireless options
                -Canon Wireless
                -Pocket Wizard

Light Shaping and Modifiers
        -Bounce (featuring the Hanson Fong (not Gary) skin glow bounce card.
        -Commercial and homemade soft boxes
        -Snoots
        -Diffusers
        -Reflectors

Basic Fill Flash
        -Shooting in your camera’s Manual mode
        -Fill to “pop” your subject
        -Flash to illuminate a backlit subject

Low Light Flash

Using the Speedlite in Manual as a Studio Strobe
        -One, two, or more Speedlites
        -Integrate with wireless, modifiers, and more

Extending the Speedlite
        -Flash projection theory
        -Better Beamer
        -Project-a-Flash
